According to a municipal report on auto transportation 2016, out of total 339,262 vehicles, went under national vehicle inspection, 262,341 vehicles (77.2% of total) were passenger cars and 9951 (3% of total) were buses.
Among the total vehicles which went under national vehicle inspection 255,600 (75.3% of total) were more than 10 years old cars.
These old cars emit around 260 kind of toxicants such as carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, nitrogen dioxide and lead. The cars by itself contribute 3 % of air pollution in the city.
According to a study, a typical car in the city produces 70 to 80 times of more toxicants than one in Europe.
